Going through all 12 years of school has had its ups and down. Although I am someone who has always known what I’ve wanted and even though I have a set plan, I am absolutely fearful of my future. Pieces of my plan started changing after freshman year. I thought long and hard about college and what to major in. I’m not very into science and math, even history. I decided to choose the music path and go for a performing arts degree. Later into my high school career, I took a designing communication and solutions class at Aspiring Professional Experience (APEX). Through this semester long class I learned videography, photography, graphic design, personal branding, communication skills, and having the chance to work with professional businesses. One thing I wanted to dive into was social media. The minute I said that, offers were put on the table. I started to run the social platforms for the 2019 Waukee Film Festival and landed an internship with Leap Here LLC where I can be a certified Hootsuite and social media user. I also get to run my own campaign. Coming from that, I’m being brought up to people who need to get their business growing and who need the help. As excited as I am that all of these opportunities are unfolding before me, I’m nervous. I’m nervous because this could go down the path of working, or the path of not working. Join me on my journey during the last few days of high school and onto bigger things!
